Are Clear Braces More Expensive?
When we think of "braces for the teeth" (or orthodontic treatments) we usually think of children or adolescents: it is in fact true that most of the problems affecting the teeth and jaw occur already at an early age and therefore it is often possible to intervene (more easily) during early childhood or youth.
This does not mean, however, that adults cannot or should not put braces on their teeth! Some problems may arise after childhood or they are situations that were neglected in the first years of life but which it is still possible (indeed, advisable) to remedy even in adulthood.
The big difference between orthodontics in childhood and that in adulthood is that - usually - for adults we talk about more "complex" treatments: the mouth is in fact already fully formed and developed, moreover, in some cases, one or more teeth may be missing or the patient has previously undergone dental reconstruction treatments.
Another difference that should not be overlooked is that adults are much more concerned with the aesthetic consequences of orthodontics than children: this factor can greatly affect the decision to wear braces or not, although there is a real need for it.
Precisely to remedy this problem, which risks endangering the health of the teeth of many people, invisible orthodontics are recommended to adults - whenever possible.
What is invisible appliance?
It is an orthodontic treatment: its purpose, therefore, is to straighten and align the teeth. The big difference with traditional dental appliances is that the invisible appliance works through a series of completely transparent and removable masks (called aligners).
This not only means that the patient can (indeed, must!) Remove the aligner before meals and replace it immediately afterwards - a factor that allows to keep the aligners cleaner - but also that the device goes completely unnoticed even when smiling and talking.
The Cost of Invisible Braces
Generally, invisible aligners are slightly more expensive than traditional braces. This is because you will change the devices every few weeks, which requires more materials and lab work than traditional braces. However, there are so many advantages to invisible braces that we recommend you speak to your orthodontist or dentist about different payment options.
The fixed device- braces
This is certainly the best known and most widespread type of dental appliances. It is usually made up of metal plates, called brackets, which are fixed to the teeth, and of wires, always made of metal.
To obtain a better aesthetic result it is also possible to make ceramic brackets and in smaller sizes. In this way, the device will be less visible and "bulky" aesthetically.
Cost of braces
First of all, it must be specified - and this applies to all types of equipment that we will describe below - that the cost varies from dental office to dental office and will also be based on the materials used.
Better performing materials from an aesthetic or functional point of view have a higher cost, mainly due to higher processing costs.
